Which carpets can be steam-cleaned?

Most man-made carpets can be steam-cleaned - for pure-wool carpet this is not recommended, instead it is best to use a WoolSafe® approved carpet shampoo. On no account should natural fibres - coir, seagrass, sisal, sisool and jute - be steam cleaned as they react very poorly to moisture. Instead they should be vacuumed regularly and ‘spot cleaned’ if they are stained.
