Stain-Resistance

If you have children or pets your house may be prone to spills and stains, so it’s always worth considering this when purchasing a carpet! Some materials have certain advantages in this regard - polypropylene is less absorbent and easy to clean with detergents like bleach. Wool, viscose and natural fibres on the other hand tend to soak up water and can even be damaged by it. However, these problems can be minimised by requesting the Stainguard treatment which prevents water absorption (as well as deterring moths and dust-mites) by coating the fibres in a polymer (learn more about that on the Our Services page of the FAQ). NB: Some manufacturers such as Westex and Ryalux pre-treat their products against moisture and other issues, so they do not require further treatment.
